Okay, so did the recent slip up by Redford possibly set up a "Civil War" type story line for Avengers 2????? How awesome would that be...a CIVIL WAR movie!!!
I loved the Mandarin twist.
I enjoyed it too...BUT it ended the movie.
Ok...so to get the conversation rolling as far as spoilery Iron Man 3 stuff
Too much Pepper Potts...just don't care. And shoehorning her into the action at the end was sad.
I love Don Cheadle. NOT as War Machine. I read a review that said he should have been Stark's accountant. Man, if that ain't true? So passion free. He is capable of much better. I have to figure he was forced on Black and his disinterest shows in both the use of Iron Patriot(ugggh) and direction of Cheadle
The twist with the Mandarin was terribly clever/funny. BUT it completely neutered the movie. Pearce's Killitch was not strong enough an adversary. He was poorly conceived and executed. Pre-comic relief, the Mandarin was not only a very credible take on a difficult character to translate, but also a seriously frightening threat...it was something special. And you need a strong villain to make a strong movie. Once he became Trevor, you really had nothing to fear.
TOO DAMNED MANY IRON MEN. Look, Shane Black clearly is not a superhero movie kind of guy. Too busy being clever to resolve a strong villain, and no concept of how a concluding 'boss scene' should take place between the HERO and the VILLAIN. That ending was just a frikking 'superheroes on ice' segment almost Schumaker like in its over complexity. Everything suspended in the air, set on fire with indistinguishable empty IM suits flying/blasting/exploding...just too busy and trying to generate drama by taking the kitchen sink approach.
What was with the bad DoubleDragon/Iron Fist tatts on Killian???? That was unexplained and distracting.
Just another movie where the superhero(meaning main character in his costume) part covers about 10 total minutes. Thanks Chris Nolan.
I just mean it was the same character. Rich guy mad at Tony Stark hires someone to be bad.And...the Extremis thing. Ok, first of all Rebecca Hall(? that's her name ain't it)'s character was yet another empty plot driving contrivance. First she's good then she's bad then she's good...whatever. Nobody has even mentioned her so she really made an impact. And yeah, Pearce breathing fire etc...the whole point was that the tech was unstable, Hence the human bomb conveniences and Hall's struggle to get Stark to solve the flaw. Yet...Killian and his associate seemed to not only have it under control, but their side effects were corraled into powers. With no explanation whatsoever. This movie was constantly feeding me **** and telling me it was ice cream. Sorry Doc, but a 3rd movie has to strive to be special to justify itself. I don't buy in on the dimisnhing returns thing and therefore write them a pass. This movie was LAZY. And it was trying too hard to be cutesy. I already saw Kiss Kiss Bang Bang and it was a much better movie. And sorry SK, but as much as I love Pearce he can't even be in the same room as Rockwell. Two of my faves were in #2, him and Mickey...go back and rewatch, I guarantee you it's a more satisfying movie.
Well yeah...but Rockwell is better
And Brownie, if you want to see a superhero movie that's not got much superhero in it...why are you going to a superhero movie?

That's fair. I'm generally not actually a big fan of superhero movies. I didn't like any of the spiderman, hulk, superman, fantastic four, punisher, daredevil, hellboy, ghost rider movies. I'm sure I'm forgetting some
I'm just saying my least favorite parts of Iron Man were the sequences where he was in the suit (or controlling it). I enjoy everything around it, him working on and trying out different parts, tinkering... everything like that is fine and can be interesting. It's just when the suit is fully on he's an expressionless unstoppable CGI fighting machine and I didn't really care for the action scenes in this particular movie. As I've previously mentioned the final showdown was tiresome with an endless supply of battle suits bailing him out at any point of danger and the scene with him saving people falling out of an airplane was laughable. "I'm gonna apply an electric pulse through your body so your hand won't let go of the person you're holding on to", are you kidding me? His home getting attacked was pretty good though, but then again he wasn't fully suited up for that one until the very end.
