The other teams thread

I am pretty sure that McDavid wants outta Edmonton (who wouldn't? lol), but I do expect him to give the diplomatic "I would like to stay" response if the issue comes up.

And a lot of players give that response and don't really mean it, but I think it's usually more complicated than that. I believe, say, that McDavid could mostly want out, but there's that part of him that does want it to work out in Edmonton.

I think he'll want to win a Stanley Cup above all else, so that will be the #1 factor for him staying or leaving.

Mikko Rantanen is about to hit UFA this summer. Early rumor is he wants 14M a season. With the Cap jumping to 92M I think the Kings could make a run at him. Unfortunately it would mean letting Gavrikov walk and trading away Moore but Rantanen is a true game breaking offensive forward and he would turn the team into a top 3 team in the Conference.

Rantanen is someone I’ve been coveting this off season. He’s one of the best players & maybe wants to get out of McKinnon & Makar’s shadow. And I’d back the Brinks truck for him. If we could get him this season that would be better. Even if it takes giving up some assets.

Another win for the Wings this time over Winnipeg. Who is their coach, whomever it is he is doing a fine job.

VAN about doubled WSH in shots last night. I only saw the second half of the game and OT, but it didn’t feel as lopsided as the shot count. VAN blocked a lot of shots, including Soucy off his hand. He came out to play still, such a tough player. Hughes really is amazing to watch, he’e like a prime Doughty only even flashier. He dances all over the dzone.

Caps dominated OT. PLD scored and I was rooting for the Caps of course so I got to cheer a Dubois goal. Nice to see VAN keep slipping ever so slightly behind the Kings.

The Oilers can't just let McDavid walk away as a free agent without getting anything for him. If they don't extend him, they'll need to trade him this season or next.

There is no way in hell the Oilers let McDavid play somewhere else.
They’ll trade Draisaitl first if they need cap room.

But McJesus can choose not to sign with them, he will be an UFA.

They will therefore need to convince McJ that they can convert Drai into pieces that will make them an even bigger contender...without Drai. OR that they can somehow build a contender with both of them on the team...

I sure am glad I'm not a fan of the Oilers. Must be the most frustrating situation in the entire NHL, what with the next Gretzky and all...
