The other teams thread

Carolina reaffirming how the current playoff system sucks. Like I told Deano, don't get carried away by a very good team rolling over weak opposition in the Metro. The last 5 ECF winners have been Atlantic (all FL teams BTW).

This years playoffs was particularly egrigious with 4 of my top 6 teams playing each other in round 1 (TB-FLA and COL-DAL were great matchups but those 4 should all be playing now).

Florida rules. But there is some secret sauce there with the coaching and dev staff. They bring in guys like Montour and take them from good to great. Or guys like OEL going from washed to good. They're doing it again with Seth Jones.

What about Mikkola looking like a 6’ 6” Paul Coffey? Ridiculous how they pick these guys up off the scrap heap and turn them into winning pieces.

Is there really any chance the Kings go for Marner? All the speculation articles don't even have the Kings on the list.

The Kings are definitely in the conversation as to being expected to take a swing at signing Marner. There was an interesting article I read yesterday stating that Marner will want out of Canada if he does not sign with Toronto (not sure why that would be true though).

Here are a couple:

Marek and Puck Daddy think Marner may want to sign in CHI to play with Bedard. They say he still liked a big stage and doesn’t want to duck out of the spotlight. Their stipulation is just if he’s willing to be patient and wait for CHI to get good.

O-zone penalty against Dallas as Granlund is called for 2 min-level boarding. Don't give Deadmonton life here, you know they're dangerous when they're on the PP.

And just like that, Deadmonton takes the lead. That was a stupid penalty by Granlund. You can't afford to take such penalties like that when facing Deadmonton, Dallas.

There's a penalty against Deadmonton after the whistle. Perry going to the box for unnecessarily roughing up a Dallas player. Still haven't changed from his Anaheim years as ever. Now tie this one up, Stars.

Dallas doesn't convert on their PP as Deadmonton did earlier. 0 for 1. And they almost gave up a shorty to McPrincess, but fortunately, he shot the puck just off the Dallas post. The Stars better be careful not to play with fire in this game.

Another Dallas penalty. Every time that happens, you give Deadmonton another chance to score when they're on the PP. This Deadmonton team is not one to sit around and do nothing. Teams should know that with this kind of roster the Coilers have, you can't afford to take unnecessary penalties.

Well, the 1st period ends. Deadmonton takes the lead by scoring in their first PP thanks to a bad O-zone penalty by Granlund but other than that, the period was mostly tempered with some shots here and there. But then at the end of the period, Dallas takes another unneeded penalty. You better bounce back in the 2nd period, Stars; Deadmonton is not a team to ever take lightly.

Well, Henrique is out of the game. Ran into a Dallas player in the Deadmonton zone and is now in the locker room likely for concussion protocol after taking an unintended blow to his head.

Seriously? 3-0 Deadmonton. Dallas was keeping Deadmonton under control 'til later this period. Mental breakdowns and yips are starting to affect the Stars now.
