The other teams thread

Great, now Oettinger shot the puck over the glass and that's clearly a delay of game penalty. If Deadmonton scores again here, Dallas better hope for a miracle comeback in the 3rd period.

2nd period ends. Dallas was looking good keeping Deadmonton at bay until the last minutes of this period when they gave up two consecutive goals due to mental breakdowns from the Dallas players. And now they're in another PK as it extends to the 3rd period. The Stars can only hope they'll weather the Deadmonton storm and stage a big comeback.

Deadmonton is able to stymie their playoffs opponents with their depth despite Ekholm still out of their roster. If Ekholm ever comes back from injury, that's really bad news for Dallas and their potential EC opponents (Carolina or Florida) in the Cup Finals.

Well, Henrique is back on the bench after returning from concussion protocol. Looks like the blow to his head that he received from Robertson wasn't that serious enough to take him out of the game.

Nurse is going to the box for slashing Hintz in the Dallas zone. Come on, Stars, time for that 3rd period comeback magic.

And Hintz is going to the locker room after that dirty play by Nurse. This could be a potential 5-minute major.

Boo, it's only a two-minute minor. First, Nurse cross-checked QB in the head a couple months ago and now he slashes Hintz. Add Nurse to the list of truly unlikable players in the Deadmonton roster.

I've noticed that Deadmonton is really tightening up the lanes when they're in the D-zone, which is really making it hard for their opponents to get clean shots on to the Coilers' net. It's too bad their opponents don't think the same when facing them. LA had Deadmonton at their mercy in the first two games until they dropped the series like a wilting flower (although most of that was very self-inflicted thanks to Hiller and QB, but especially Hiller), which makes it all the more frustrating.

Well, Dallas didn't show up prepared in this game. At least they were until the last minutes of the 2nd period. Now they have no answers for Skinner and Deadmonton as their 3rd period magic is not in their pockets this time.

Once again, there's a Dallas penalty. That's it. It's a guaranteed loss for the Stars this time. Better hope they regain their magic in the next games.

So now the series between Dallas and Deadmonton is tied, with the Coilers recording an SO against the Stars. Ugh, hopefully the Stars will return to meaningful form in Game 3 and the next games.

Nurse takes a deliberate whack at Hintz's foot and he only gets a two-min minor when that should've been a 5-min major. Not only are the refs in this league an embarrassment to hockey but the NHL DoPS is a joke under the Parros administration. I know I've said this many times already before, but Bettman seriously needs to step down. How long will he remain commissioner of this league 'til natural causes can finally get to him? The guy's got Parkinson's, which is a red flag for his health. You can clearly see him visibly shaking involuntarily whenever he gets screen time. And yet he still manages to keep his job in spite of that.

I don't get how in hell all Edmonton wins comes only when Skinner gets shutout
Crazy stats... 3-4 a record with 3 SO's-- (if I heard correctly, the ESPN guys say tied with Bob for the most). And 20 goals against in the 4 losses. WTF?.... If Pickard is healthy I don't think you go back to him unless EDM gets sh*t the bed Skinner for game 3...although that's likely at least one more time this series.

Skinner's an anomaly of a goalie. One game he turns into Chris Osgood, the next game he plays like Martin Brodeur. But even then, his forwards and blueliners do the heavy lifting for him. And it's amazing they're able to get this far in the playoffs without their best D-man (Ekholm). Once Ekholm returns, Dallas is really going to be in deep water.

Marek and Puck Daddy think Marner may want to sign in CHI to play with Bedard. They say he still liked a big stage and doesn’t want to duck out of the spotlight. Their stipulation is just if he’s willing to be patient and wait for CHI to get good.

That would make sense. Quite close to his home, a team on the uprise...his presence would be a boost to them for sure. But they need a lot of pieces to ice a playoff team. Who'd be the scorer on the Bedard-Marner line? Or would they pass the puck into the goal? xD

Given how the first two games have gone, it’s pretty accurate to say (to loosely paraphrase the decades old headline “Harvard beats Yale, 29-29”) that Edmonton leads the series, 1-1.
