Tell that to the 90s/00s Devils, especially the 94-95 era Devils. Yes, the rules were different back then, but still. Same with the late 90s Red Wings and Stars.

End of 1st period. Despite the Cats scoring first, they broke down and let Deadmonton take over as the score is currently 3-2 in favor of the Coilers. The Cats must regroup and change their strategies if they want to get their lead back in the 2nd period.
 
Not gonna lie - as someone practicing sports stoicism to totally not cope with the Kings loss, this was a pretty fun first period. That pre-final break was pretty long.
 
Unless the Kings are in the Cup Finals, rooting for Canada to win the Cup is fine, as long as it's not Deadmonton. This roster fielded by Deadmonton makes them virtually impossible to root for, to say nothing of their extremely petulant fanbase. Even I would prefer Montreal and Toronto to make it to the Cup Finals over this Deadmonton team, and those two cities don't exactly have "aw, shucks" types of people either.

My God watching both teams beating on each other all game long there's no way in hell the Kings could withstand this, as we are softer than baby sh*t. We definitely need to bulk up our roster and balance skill and size. there's no way in hell we could ever keep up with these Joneses

Well, Marchand has another nickname to him: "Nose Face Killa." But the original Rat title goes to Ken Linseman himself. Though I wasn't born and was too young at the time to remember, he wasn't exactly a popular player in the league either, not helped by the fact he actually did win a Cup with the same Coilers team in '84.

Especially not when Kopi is our C, sadly. And DD also will not lead our Kings to a Cup as C either.

And now Verhaeghe negates his team's PP with an unnecessary penalty. Seriously, every time you take a penalty, you let the Coilers get every chance to come back. Stop taking unwanted penalties at the wrong time, Florida.
 
Well, that's the end of the 2nd period. It's getting just as feisty as ever between these two teams. But Florida was able to answer back with two straight goals in the period and get their lead back. Just hoping that Florida will not collapse in the 3rd period this time.
