If the price is right, yes. He's this year's Eichel. Sure, may not pan out as well, but the Kings are well past the point of playing it safe if they don't intend to rebuild.
I'm not a huge fan of Petey but we should roll the dice unless the team wants to be in rebuild mode for the next 5 years.

I'm pretty certain the ownership wants none of it (the rebuild that is).

So it's either risking it with giving the #1 reigns to QB long term and adding a 2nd line center (worst case you have 2 2nd line centers, best case you have a solid but unspectacular 1-2) or risking it with trading for Elias and, worst case if QB doesn't develop much further you have a solid but unspectacular 1-2, or, best case scenario, if Elias finds his game and QB does develop you have basically 2 first line centers down the middle with one being capable to contain McDavids of the league.

The real question is how much would Elias cost, and it would be a good idea to try and make Van retain a bit of money if possible (though unlikely due to term). The good thing is I can't see many teams vying for playoffs looking for Elias type of a player (a known short-term question mark due to his health, long-term expensive contract), and the bottom dwelling teams are unlikely an attractive option for Elias (full NMC).

Schmaltz would be a good FA pickup this summer (could fill the C2 or potentially even the C1B role) if he chooses not to resign with Utah.

He would have to be a reasonable deal after under-performing these last 2 seasons. Canucks need players to keep the puck out of the net. Think they'd take Doughty?😀 Kings also have Woolley, Brzusty and the 2 goalie kids. A revived Petterssonn, QB, Turc and Sammy could be pretty strong down the middle.
Please please please don't trade Woolley. My guess is that they would want 2-3 1st round draft picks for him, or something equivalent (not sure he is worth that at this point, though). Even with the recent down years his career stats are still elite so perhaps they'd seek more in return.

Possibly a fair offer would be 1 D prospects (Brzusty), 1 goalie prospect and 2 draft picks (2026 2nd, 2027 3rd) or a solid two-way forward, such as Moore, instead of the picks?

Admittidly I am bad when it comes to trade proposals.

UFA market will have a lot of buyers...I would not bet on it.

I would only add Woolley to a crucial trade as a last resort. 6' 5" left shot mobile defensemen don't grow on trees.
