The Trade Deadline Thread

Barring a miracle turnaround, the PLD trade will define Blake's tenure as a GM, and may very well go down as the worst trade in the history of the franchise.

The morning I heard about the trade I thought it was either a bad joke or an even worse typo.

And seriously, what in the blue f*ck was Blake thinking? Giving up all THAT for THIS guy.

Wow.
Worse than giving up Ray Borque draft pick and bringing in Roenick. Length of contract is going to strangle us for years.

Some 26 games left. VA, Grundstrom & Copley on LTIR. Do we know about Kempe & Anderson yet? Roy, Copley, Talbot, Rittich, Arvidsson, Lewis all UFAs. We're stuck with PLD unless some miracle happens and someone takes him off our hands.
Kopitar and Doughty are getting up there.
IMO this team needs to do better with all this talent they drafted years ago at forward
Byfield and Laferriere seems to be the only ones paying off.

I cannot see any trades that would make us legit contenders, especially if our IR players don't come back, or come back not at 100%.
To add more UFAs for picks and/or roster seems to reek of desperation.
Blake is in a quagmire. He might be best to hold off until off season to do some tinkering but that could cost him his job. But the excuse of injuries could save it. Especially if he has a good offseason plan. If he can get good return for Roy or Lewis he should take it.

Trade PLD.
It is so frustrating watching him play so poorly. I just don't get why anyone thinks he's worth 8.5 Million, or even half that. If he's un tradable, he needs to be bought out.
Untradeable. Although, if there was one team who might be willing, I wonder about ANH. They have tons of cap and are very young up front. He could slot in on the first line and get top PP minutes again. Play with some young talented wingers, put up 60 points again. Gives more time for McTavish and Carlsson to develop, while also balancing their roster.

What we get back I don’t care. A jock strap. Would just be a miracle if crusty, hard ass Verbeek took him. I could actually see a glimmer of logic there.

Kings keep falling further down the standings. Pretty soon Calgary is going to take that wild card spot.
After watching them last night not impressed at all and don’t see Cal making it. I think the Kings will stumble their way to 8th just like WPG last year due to other teams’ incompetence. Ironic…

Don't wonder. Verbeek ain't going anywhere near Dubois. We'd have better luck just wishing him into the cornfield.

I agree. Like I said, it’d take a miracle. Just in terms of addressing the notion of a trade, they are the only team I can think of that would make even a sliver of sense.

LMAO, "jock strap"!

Spector's rumoring that Ullmark is available.
What would it take for the Kings to pry him away from the Bruins.
He's got $5M next year an then a UFA.
A miracle?
Might be more of an offseason/draft day move ... if he's still available

Ullmark ...and a hand full of other goalies are available.
In my opinion, the Kings should just ride it out.
The damage has been done, no need to create more of it.

As much as everyone hates it, I would trade both #11 and #8.

Victor is on LTIR, can't be traded. But yes, if things continue the way the are, trading Roy is a possibility. If Blake is fired this summer, I would imagine everyone (including Kopitar and Doughty) over 27/28 is eligible for trade. LIke the Blackhawks are finally doing, it's time to let go of the past, however glorious it was, and make the moves to make this team competitive in the future. Byfield, Clarke are part of the new core. Build from there.
I don't know if you meant that as unlikely to be traded, but there is no rule against trading LTIR players, see shea Weber

I’m right there with you on the trades. No thank you. No need to send out any more draft picks for band aids. What’s done is done. Sink or swim with the guys we’ve already got.

If ullmark is available that's a pure hockey concept and any GM better kick the tires on it. My suspicion is that it's not real.

Sure kick the tires. The problem is Ullmark turns 31 in July and only signed for 1 more season. What assets do the Kings have that are attractive to a team like the Bruins? If they’ll take a couple aging out prospects then sure let’s make that trade.

Absolutely the Kings need to trade for Ullmark. Then, they can turn around and trade him to one of the Bruins' rivals for more than they gave up. Yeah, I like that idea.
