F***ing album is so Goddamn good, its not even funny. A timeless masterpiece. Its still as clean and valid as it was almost 23 years ago. Even the EP 'B' sides could have made a fantastic album on their own.

Where were YOU when this album dropped?

I was living in NYC. As if were last Saturday night at 3am, I clearly recall being at The Limelight, the smell of Drakkar, Djarums and YSL Cigarettes repulsively wafting through the gray air as 200 sweaty people dressed in black POUNDED the dance floor to "World in my eyes". Blistered ankles from my Creepers... BE DAMNED!

To me, this album is one of the few that takes me back to an exact moment in time in my life, every time I hear it. The smells, feeling and energy. Good times, KILLER album. Absolute TREASURE.

PS, Good Grief does DM miss Alan... :(

Who me? Haha!

I can't remember the exact time it came out. But close to it, during Summer, my mother was working at a school that had year round school. I was on Summer break, but she didn't want me to stay home and do nothing (hey, reading comics, and watching telly all day is SOMETHING). So she got/made me get a volunteering gig at one of the kindergarten classes (I was still a kid then, but said school liked having older kids help teachers during their vacation (the student's vacations not the teachers. Ha!)).

But anyhow, I had a general liking towards DM back then because one of my uncles would play their music (think: "Just Can't Get Enough"). And then my library got a cassette (remember those?) of Violator a few months after it came out. So I checked it out and when my mother and I would drive to her job and my child labor job, I convinced her to play the cassette. Almost everyday. To and from the school. I listened, no, lived that album, it was like a religious experience, and arguably the first "album" I came to really love (like a lot of kids, I liked songs and not necessary whole albums).

So, um, yeah.

Did I ever tell you peeps I got to see The Ramones live? Hell, yah, I did! :D

:ducksmash

Beat on the duck, beat on the duck,
With a baseball, with a baseball.
Oh, yeah, Oh yeah.
What can you do with a duck like that?
What can you lose with a duck like that?

The Pretenders "Time The Avenger"

If you don't know this band then you need to. This album is the perfect entry. "Time The Avenger" - "Back On The Chain Gang" - "Middle Of The Road" - "My City Was Gone" - some of Chrissie's biggest hits and music that helped define the good R&R of the '80's.
