What are you reading? What was the last book you enjoyed?

Just finished the Sookie Stackhouse series. 9 books in 10 days

Both these English authors have really mastered the Space Opera genre --- successfully combining hard science with a great story set on a vast galactic stage. Really good stuff.

Got my first taste of Palahniuk. Loved both books. Just started this one last night:

DUDE. This series is freakin' epic. Not quite Lord of the Rings epic, but in the same vein. I've read almost everything SK has written, and many of his books are on my favorites list, but these books blow them all out of the water. Enjoy it.

I'm going through a Ken Follett kick. I've read Pillars of the Earth, World Without End, and A Dangerous Fortune recently.

All of those were period pieces (dark ages - Victorian era), but Whiteout is a Micheal Crichton-like book about a heist at a biotech firm. So it's safe to say that he has a very wide range. I'd recommend him to anyone; if you haven't read anything of his, look him up. There's bound to be a few in a genre that you like.

Some of the standard Carlin jokes (Airplane announcements, football vs. Baseball) but always good for a laugh.

Finished the Batman book which was full of geeky goodness.

Now I am reading something that I have been meaning to read for YEARS:

I finished Pride and Prejudice and Zombies recently. I thought it was really good since it stayed pretty much true to the book with some added additions and slight changes. I'm not a fan of books that try to extend the story after the events in Pride and Prejudice but I though this book did a great job making the original story a little more humorous.

I thoroughly enjoyed the blood and the ass kicking.

Just finished Y: The Last Man (all 10 trades). Reread all 13 Fables trades and now I'm catching up on Robert Kirkman's Invincible, Walking Dead & Astounding Wolf-Man. For books non-comic related, I just bought World War Z: An oral history of the zombie war on CD(written by Mel Brooks' son, Max Brooks). I read the book last year and wanted to hear the story again, but was too busy to invest the time in rereading it.

I am going to attempt the Promethean task of re-reading the entire run of Alan Moore/ J.H Williams' Promethea comic series.

The whole series has been collected via trade paperback by the way and special absolute editions are on the way.

Just finished reading this today. Boy was this book ****ed up. I thought it was really well written, but I didn't like it as much as some of Palahniuk's other books.

Christ this book made me cry like a little baby. Such a wonderful, sad story.
