I remember I bought Cure for Pain after reading John Popper from Blues Traveler raving about it. I found the quote - "A friend of mine put it on and I couldn’t move or speak until it was over. It was so powerful that I’ve started smoking cigarettes again. Goddammit, find them!” I think I even got it via Columbia House so it took a while before it was delivered (ahh...the good old days before instant gratification) and I put it in and was completely blown away. To this day I don't think I've ever been that immediately impacted by an album on the first listen. Listening to them was also my gateway to jazz, which I will always be thankful for. I only got to see them once, and they were amazing. I had tickets to their upcoming show in LA when Sandman died in Italy on stage. They'll probably always be in my top 5 bands.

Unknown the unlit world of old
You're the sounds I've never heard before
Off the map where the wild things grow
Another world outside my door
Here I stand I'm all alone
Driving down the pitch black road
Lilah you're my only home
And I can't make it on my own

Sacha Baron Cohen Explains Why He Left the Freddie Mercury Biopic
http://collider.com/sacha-baron-cohen-freddie-mercury-movie-queen/

“[After] my first meeting, I should never have carried on because a member of the band —I won’t say who— said, ‘This is such a great movie, because such an amazing thing happens in the middle of the movie.’ I go, ‘What happens in the middle of the movie?’ He goes, ‘Freddie dies.’ I go, ‘So you mean it’s a bit like ‘Pulp Fiction,’ where the end is the middle and the middle is the end? That’s interesting.’ He goes, ‘No no no.’ So I said, ‘Wait a minute. What happens in the second half of the movie?’ And he said, ‘Well, we see how the band carries on from strength to strength.’ And I said, ‘Listen, not one person is going to see a movie where the lead character dies from AIDS and then you carry on to see [what happens to the band].”

he was on Howard this morning...and his new movie sounds fantastic. The Brothers Grimsby, opens Friday.

He was exceptionally funny on Howard this morning. Just the stories of giving an extra 6 minutes to the mpaa to get down to 3.5 on the "vag" scene, to sneaking in his Ali g but almost not doing it until Dave chappelle gave a thumbs up, even his early days as a "you got served" break dancer and serious clown college. I was enthralled.

The Reverend Horton Heats up!

http://www.pollstar.com/news_article.aspx?ID=823574

The band was riding along Interstate 5 at approximately 4 a.m. when the Reverend himself, who was playing guitar at the time, noticed the bus filling with smoke. The driver, band and crew exited the bus safely to see it go up in flames.
Firefighters were called to the scene and the bus and gear were towed to a safe location, the equipment trailer remaining undamaged.

If you can't stand the heat , get off the bus , FAST!

:drum:

All (bad) joking aside , glad to hear everyone got off the bus and no injuries.

"Lush forced to postpone US tour dates, Coachella appearance due to visa issues"

Bummer , they postponed their show at the Roxy on Thursday to 4/25.

I saw Lush play their first show in LA , maybe in the US at Club Lingerie back in the day .

I've seen them a few times over the years . I knew they broke up but didn't know they had not played a gig in 20+years .

Guess I'm that old geezer at shows now .
