Yeah it feels like it for sure. It’s not so much giving up and I’m sure they all respect Todd…just that a new voice is needed.

I would say it’s probably really similar to woodcroft in Edmonton. It wasn’t so much that they didn’t like him, just needed a new voice and look at them now.

To me, the PLD trade didn’t strip the Kings of any important parts. Vilardi for PLD, straight up, makes sense. However, PLD had a horrible reputation for being lazy, a primadona, and they rewarded that by paying him $8M. Should have been shorter term. Now we’re stuck with this guy.

Except it was Vilardi plus a 2nd plus Iafallo plus Kupari.

A 2nd for PLD wasn't a bad trade either.

Blake had to make some moves as that roster we had at the end of last season was not a contender.
He swung for the fences and popped it up to shortstop. It happens.
PLD is a low effort, head case who needs to grow up.
 
The PLD trade is done, there is nothing the Kings can do about it. Not sure the Kings can acquire any players with heart. Those players are hard to come by.

I know I'm a literal broken record repeating myself over and over and over...

... but seriously, what in the blue f*** were they thinking?

On paper, that trade looked bad. I reality, it looks even worse.

The reality, IMO, is that Copley saved BOTH Blake and Todd’s jobs. It was artificial for them to keep their jobs. Todd would have gone first, in an effort by Blake to deflect blame. But, if the owners care a lick about hockey (which I don’t believe they do), they would have thrown Blake out at the end of the season too.

In a perfect world, Todd stays, Blake goes, and we dump some of these softies for character players.
