Punk...

The best thing about that video, and I love Fear and Ving as much as any OG Punk, is the shear volume of Punk Hall O' Famers in that pit and all the little things happening during the clip. Tesco, Jon "Bloodclot" Josephs, Harley Flanagan, Henry Rollins, John Brannon, with the icing on the cake being Ian MacKaye yelling "New York Suuuuuuuuuuuuuks!!!" from his knees, into Vings downed mic. That clip makes me smile a mile wide every time I see it. So awesome on so many levels.

Edit: Read "Spray Paint the Walls: The Story of Black Flag" over a rainy weekend if you get a chance. GREAT BOOK!

I was trying to find that old video of Fear playing on saturday night live, but it seems to have been taken down on many a site

SNL are such control freaks when it comes to old clips...or any clips for that matter. They suck.

Here are two more classics:

My high school best friend's brother did the art work for this record. Unfortunately, he never got paid. LOL!

This band only put out one record & it's a classic. Frank Agnew (Adolescents) & Eddie Caudill (Doggy Style) are in it. This record really shows how awesome Agnew is as a guitarist. If you can find, buy it.

Thanks for your contribution.

"It's something new and it's just reviving like old rock n roll, and it's like it's raw and it's for real...and it's fun."

this will inevitably start the "what is punk" arguments. so........

At the Showcase Theater in Corona, at a late December show, '93ish, these guys hit me in the head with a Christmas tree when they threw it into the pit. Good times.

Speaking of the Showcase, this was probably the last punk show I've been to there before it closed. 04/08 Subhumans. My brother and I went with a few friends. I got my ears boxed up pretty good and my brother had the runs the whole show and was pissed cuz I wouldn't leave.

Seen these guys a thousand times at various spots. I think the first time I saw them was at a free show in the early 90's in the parking lot for the grand opening of Extreme Board Shop in Corona. That was cool. I want to say Youth Brigade played that day as well. Really fun show cuz we got to skate in the parking lot, but then a bunch of skinheads showed up and started fights with the skaters.

Seen em @ Alex's Bar a couple times when I lived in Long Beach. I actually took my wife on one of our first dates to Alex's and saw VGS.

I dig ska. I was a band geek and a punk, so I identified. Rude boy.

are there still shows at the showcase? I was quite big on the hardcore boom in the late 90s early 2000s (thank you former victory records) and many a show was out there.

here's another band out of san diego i used to love going to see when I lived out there, but never got much notoriety...
