The shuffle is set whereby he’s playing 3rd line minutes with Gavrikov, and England with Roy. The shuffle is working, for now.
He’ll have to grow into 2nd line minutes next season.
It would, but I don’t think Clarke is ready for 2nd pairing minutes just yet. The way the rotation is set now is working.Wait, wouldn't this work:
Left shot: Mikey, Gavrikov, Englund, Moverare
Right shot: Drew, Spence, Clarke
I don't recall Moverare being out of his depth at the NHL level.
Or are we worried about Ontario being left with scrubs that are all left shot?
It appears that Englund has reached Modry levels of hate on this board. If the Kings trade Roy at the deadline (highly unlikely) a big upgrade on Englund needs to be coming back. Clarke and Spence are still too weak defensively.
Yeah he is a steal for the price and still had a lot of growth potential. It appears that Englund has reached Modry levels of hate on this board.
For those that don’t remember, everybody crapped on Modry for no apparent reason other than he didn’t play “teh sexy”‘ style of hockey that you all crave. He was a steady 2nd/3rd pairing defensemen that just got it done. That’s Englund for us.
In this day and age, you need a Physical presence on the 3rd pairing that doesn’t break the bank, and that’s him. He kills penalties, hits people, and makes $1M per season to play 10-12 minutes per night. I don’t see why everyone wants him out of here so quickly.
Not only do I agree with your points above, but to reiterate my previously stated points about the guy.. his presence is definitely a deterrent. You only need to go back several games to that contest against the oilers, to see the effect his presence has on the opposition. And that’s WITH Corey Perry in their lineup. If you were to replace Englund with Moverare, guys like Hyman, Kane, and Perry would be running our defenders on the forecheck every single chance they gotIt appears that Englund has reached Modry levels of hate on this board.

If you want to boil it down to that, then yes, I’d rather have Englund issuing the payback on a guy like Kane, rather than Kempe having to stick his nose in there. If no one steps up when it happens, it’ll continue all game until our defense is totally shell shocked, or worse, someone gets hurt from being run into the boards.Theyre gonna run em, Englund is in no way a deterrent to that, but the team tends to play better if he's the one issuing the payback instead of them where they're out of their depth.
I wouldn't say it's how they won, but it was a necessary component. It helped that the 12 team dictated so much play and had leads. The 14 team could beat teams in any way they needed to. Both teams had it in the toolbox though. If you want to boil it down to that, then yes, I’d rather have Englund issuing the payback on a guy like Kane, rather than Kempe having to stick his nose in there. To go a step further, I would PROACTIVELY ask a guy like Englund to go after their worst agitators from the initial drop of the puck. Take a guy like Hyman or Kane right out of the game with 5 and 10 from the get go, or just harangue him the entire game. When the team sees that, they will all follow his lead, and guys like Kempe, Danault, Roy will just simply play meaner as a result. This is precisely how our teams won those cups in ‘12 and ‘14. Pack of wolves.
My comment was nothing about hate on Englund it was simple reality. He only plays limited minutes every night and if Roy goes you need to improve the D on the left side since it would be DD, BC and JS on the right and that means Englund needs to go since Mikey and Gavi aren't going anywhere. It appears that Englund has reached Modry levels of hate on this board.

Yeah, was thinking of a young Jack as well.It would, but I don’t think Clarke is ready for 2nd pairing minutes just yet. The way the rotation is set now is working.
Clarke’s wandering reminds me of JMFJ early rover years. He’s got to settle down a bit and just keep racking up minutes.
Not even if it brings back a right shot, proven finisher forward to replace Arvy (if necessary)? Kopi and Juice need/deserve better than Laf at his current stage. I know I may be dreaming, but there is no one of that caliber in the organization right now.The Kings will not trade a defenseman that is currently playing.
They have no one who can replace Roy. They trade Roy, they create a huge hole on the right side of the D. Spence is not ready to be a second-pairing D-man in the NHL playoffs, he's not even close to ready. And even if they did trade Roy, he's not going to bring a proven right shot finisher, unless that finisher is also going to be a UFA this summer. You're going to fill a hole by creating a bigger hole. Not even if it brings back a right shot, proven finisher forward to replace Arvy (if necessary)? You know that many, if not all, of ICE24's posts are tongue-in-cheek. This whole dialogue is more about poking at each other rather than a serious trade proposal discussion. However, many media talking heads have been focusing on Roy as a potential target. Stranger things have happened. They have no one who can replace Roy. In the last few games, I believe Laf has stepped up his game. He is hitting, causing turnovers and just playing better overall. He is a rookie with a high ceiling. He only gets better and by the end of the season, he will be a different player. As we know Defense is so key in the playoffs, I just don't think they can afford to move one and take a step back. Laffy's is so close, I don't believe they need a proven shot at this point. We will see.Not even if it brings back a right shot, proven finisher forward to replace Arvy (if necessary)? I would prefer we obtain a rough, agitating 4th liner for that role.If you want to boil it down to that, then yes, I’d rather have Englund issuing the payback on a guy like Kane, rather than Kempe having to stick his nose in there.
