Holy s***, that's a steep price if I ever saw one...surely they'd have to be certain he'd resign at a reasonable cap hit??

I mean, he's a good player, but...one time all star, no Cups, Isles struggle in black hole...who says he's a great leader in absolute sense?

Huge overpayment IMO.
 
Kings are more than a few deadline deal tweaks from making it to the Cup final. We may see a slight improvement by 3PM EST today but, if Blake is still around it's the offseason/draft that where the real moves can be made. So, maybe he stands pat saving picks and prospects for a bigger splash? Seeing the prices some of these teams are paying for 30+ UFAs is crazy. But, those GMs must think this is their year to make it.

I'll say it again tho. Bringing in "scoring talent" then not creating a system for letting them do their thing is a waste of time. Kings need to figure out what kind of team they are.
 
Calgary is three points behind the Kings and by next week, should be in 3rd place. I don't see a need right now to go out and pay the price, to try and stay in 3rd and lose in the first round.

We know the Kings are more than a rental player away to win a round in the playoffs. This season, AEG will lose out on those two extra paydays. And I believe they are OK with that.
 
If we did nothing I would not be that upset really. I think it's better focus on free agency as we will have some money to spend. Buyers overpay at the deadline. There's no trade out there that would make us a true contender. A trade for a middle 6 right shot at a modest cost would probably be the best option right now.

I could talk all day about Blake's misses - but Edmundson has been a SOLID signing, have no idea WTF you are talking about.
