Edmundson has played better than anyone could’ve hoped for which is great but the lesson shouldn’t be that’s it’s ok to overpay a guy because he might work out. The takeaway should be “how do we find a guy who is UNDERVALUED and UNDERPAID into our system.” That’s basically what happened with Englund last season.

It’s stuff like this that makes me continue to question if Blake has the edge required to turn this franchise into a Cup winner again.

March 7 — The Rantanen trade is on the verge of being finalized, per multiple reports. Rantanen is going to Dallas for Stankoven, two first-round picks and two third-round picks.

Blake signed him to 3.85mil x 4yr contract. The player is just slightly better than Englund. Englund was had on the cheap. That is not good cap management if you ask me. The team needed then and still has no LHD that can move the puck up the ice. That seems to be an issue for this team that struggles to generate offense. This team also struggles against those quick and mobile teams. Paying a 6' 5" pylon that much money for that many years was a baffeling move to say the least.

Sure, Edmundson is playing better than expected, but it is not enough at that price and not what this team needs/needed IMO.

Avs fans and media hate it. Listening to sports radio here in CO right now and the talk is whether Mikko is a villain in CO on the level that Carmelo Anthony was when he went to the Knicks. Most fans here had been ok with Mikko being gone until he resurfaces with a major rival.

He was the only holding the franchise together when they were in Minnesota. I liked him.

I remember Terry Murry saying that was one of the main questions during his interview; "How would you defeat the Stars?"

If I remember correctly, the Kings did well against them when Murray coached.
