Does anyone know what's written on the back of Phoenix copley's helmet? I tried to Google search couldn't find an image from the back or any text about this, thanks

I'll try to go down to warmups on Saturday and take a picture of it. I have only gone to the Kings side of warmups once this season, and it was when we wore the Reverse Retros.

Copley once told the media, “All the time, people ask me what they’re for, it’s kind of a random thing, but it’s cool. It kind of pops on the chin. It’s just a little tribute to North Pole.” A fitting tribute indeed.

Only other thing I found from what is visible in Kurisu picture was Proverb 18. "He who isolates himself pursues selfish desires; he rebels against all sound judgment."

Damn, good detective work. I've asked Fox and Carrlyn Bathe on Twitter in case maybe there's an interesting story there. So far no response. With his rising stature on our recent run, maybe they'll cover it.

I love that quote, and I'm still going to try to get pic of his helmet on Saturday.

Felix wore #39 with the Kings. I guess Brad Chartrand wouldn't give up his number

Was Chartrand on the team in February 2001 when Felix was claimed off waivers from the Canucks? I seem to recall someone asked him why he took 39 instead of 29 and I don't think it was that reason. If I recall correctly, it was because he wanted something different due to his struggles that season in Vancouver. If someone finds something to the contrary, let me know, but I vaguely remember that was the reason. That 2001 team is one of my favorite Kings teams ever.

Go Kings!!

Phoenix is saving the year for the Kings. Quick has been demoted to back up.

Same, especially since it’s the team that made me a fan.

While the Allison trade didn’t hold up as a good one, the LAPD line the following season is still one of my favorite lines all time. Had it all except health.

I'd actually like to see more Quick right now and I realize that is not a popular opinion. Copley to me, is doing eveyrthing asked of him and that's great, but he really is playing average. That won't do us anything in the playoffs. I think Quick probably still has a little left to give and would like to see them try to build his confidence up with a game here and there. I think our only chance at a long run is Quick finding his game. Would love to be wrong, like I said, Copley has done what's asked and maybe in the playoffs he can up his game, but I wouldn't rely on that. Even if Copley goes in to the playoffs as the starter, I think you need Quick riding a little high going into it, in case he needs to step in. It was only last year, that Quick looked like old Quick in the playoffs.

One of the things I like about Copley is that he has always been able to elevate his play in the playoffs from both and all around game and stats (his GAA and Save % have been better in every playoff series than it was in the season leading up to it). That said, I 100% agree with you - we need Quick's confidence high and rust removed come playoff time as his experience gives us the best chance to win in the playoffs. I really like Copley and think he is a silent star (nothing stands out as overall elite but he wins games and, so far, is consistent) but I would like to see Quick at least get one start to each of Copley's two.

Copley is less Felix Potvin more Sean Burke in 2006-07. He's just a stabilizing force. Nothing particularly special. But goaltending has been such a problem this season (like 2006/7) that getting any consistency feels like the difference between drowning and swimming

The Sean Burke comparison is very accurate. The team had horrible goaltending at that time and then Sean started playing doing what an average goalie was supposed to do.

Well, so much for that. That’s probably a win with Copley. Quick is mentally done right now. Knickel is the real Copley comparison because this is like Hrudey 92-93, just lost out there. So I guess Quick needs Tony Robbins and Copley needs to play. Seriously wondering if at some point they consider putting Quick down and bringing Petersen up. With Seattle and Edmonton surging you can’t give away games. Right now, a Copley injury would sink this team.

As I stated in another thread, Rob Blake, in addition to an impact LD, needs to be searching for an inexpensive, but solid #2 goalie. Without an upgrade to the current goaltender lineup, the Kings might not even make the playoffs.

I agree. I like Copley a lot, but I am not convinced he is our guy in April/May. However, I am not ruling out that Quick isn't our guy either. Although he wasn't sharp last night, I think he needs to play a little more, see if he can rack up some wins and get his confidence back. I think playing him against a more inferior team in San Jose would have been a better night to call on him. Perhaps he gets the win and instills more confidence. If you recall, there were times last season that he resembled the JQ of the Cup runs.

If that isn't the plan, then yes Flake will be burning up the phones trying to get a solid #2 as you mentioned.

Go Kings!!

There's no way you can play him if we keep getting results like like night. I dont care where the blame lies, or even if it's worth placing blame at all at this point. If Copley continues to get wins, you cant afford to play quick any significant amount of time. Just prior to the devils game, i had assumed Blake would punt on the goalie issue until the offseason, but now im not so sure.

I don't think he can punt. You need a reasonably reliable No. 2 and there isn't one right now for the Kings.

But how do they carry FOUR goaltenders? It's kind of an absurd possibility. Im not saying you're wrong, but between the need to better align the defense, pick up some size, and with Cal down in Ontario... how do you prioritize this? I think Blake definitely has to have some options ready, but im not sure you make that decision on a backup until the very last minute. If Copley is still going strong at the deadline, im probably letting that ride. But I agree it would be disastrous to see the team miss teh playoffs or bow out in teh first round due to abysmal goaltending.
